Person-Centred Support for People in Dundee

I'm Amber — a person-centred therapist based in Edinburgh, working online with people across Dundee (and in person in Edinburgh).

You don't have to carry it alone

You've been holding it all together on the outside — keeping up with work, relationships, and expectations — while inside, something isn't right. You're tired in a way that rest doesn't seem to fix. You might be anxious, second-guessing yourself, or carrying a heaviness you can't quite name.

Maybe you've tried the self-help books, the podcasts, the pushing through. And yet, here you still are.

Sometimes what's missing isn't more insight — it's a space where you can actually put it all down and be met with honesty, warmth, and care. That's what therapy with me is for and wherever you're logging in from, including Dundee, that space is just as real over video as it is in a room.

Therapy that follows your lead

I offer person-centred therapy — which means our sessions are shaped by you, not by a fixed agenda or a checklist of techniques. You set the pace. You decide what we explore and when.

What you'll find here isn't clinical distance or careful neutrality. You'll be met with warmth, directness, and — when it fits — a touch of humour. Because sometimes a small spark of light makes the heavy stuff easier to face.

Together, we'll slow things down, explore what's really going on underneath, and start untangling the patterns that keep you stuck. Over time, many of my clients begin to see themselves and their choices differently — not because I told them what to think, but because they finally had space to work it out for themselves.

Working together online doesn't change any of that. A lot of my Dundee clients are students or in the middle of an early career, juggling university, work, or a big move to a new city — a lot tell me it's easier to be open from their own room, on their own schedule, without a commute to Edinburgh eating into an already packed week.

Clients often say therapy with me feels safe

Safe — a space to share even the thoughts you've never spoken out loud. Steady — you can bring pain, trauma, and vulnerability, and know it will be held. Honest — gentle truths, no pretence, no jargon. Empowering — over time, you begin to see yourself and your choices differently. Lighter — because healing can hold both tears and laughter.

A little about me

Hi, I'm Amber

I'm a person-centred therapist based in Edinburgh, and I work with adults and teenagers who are ready to stop just coping and start actually healing.

A growing part of my work now happens online, including with people across Dundee — a lot of them students or early in their career, working out life in a new city while trying to keep everything else afloat.

I trained at the University of Edinburgh, where I completed my Master's in Counselling. I'm a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), which means I practise to the highest ethical and professional standards.

My approach is warm, direct, and real. I won't sit in neutral silence — I'll be present with you, and I'll gently challenge you when it might help. Therapy with me is a two-way conversation, not a one-way download.

I know reaching out can feel like a big step. If you're not sure yet, a free introductory call is a no-pressure way to see if we're a good fit.

Need to know

Your questions, answered

If you're wondering whether therapy is right for you, you're in the right place. Here are some of the questions I'm asked most often.

How much does therapy cost? +

Sessions are £65 for 50 minutes. To secure a regular weekly slot, block bookings are available — for example, 4 sessions for £260. A small number of reduced-rate spaces are available — please ask when you get in touch.

What is the free intro call? +

A free 20-minute phone or video call where we can briefly chat about what's brought you here and whether we feel like a good fit. There's no obligation — it's just a chance to ask questions and see how it feels.

Do you offer in-person sessions in Dundee? +

Not currently in Dundee itself — but if you're ever in Edinburgh, you're welcome to book an in-person session at my Edinburgh office. If you're based in Dundee, I offer secure, confidential online sessions by video, which many people find just as effective, with no travel required either side.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy? +

Research consistently shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for most people, particularly for the kind of person-centred, talking-based work I offer. What matters most is the relationship we build together — and that's just as possible over video as it is in a room.

What do I need for online sessions? +

Just a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone — a laptop, tablet, or smartphone all work well. Sessions take place via secure, encrypted video software, and I'll send you a simple link before each session.

Is online therapy confidential? +

Yes. Sessions take place through secure, encrypted video platforms designed for clinical use, not standard video call apps. The same confidentiality that applies to in-person sessions applies online.

I'm not sure if therapy is right for me. Can I still get in touch? +

Absolutely. Many of the people who reach out aren't sure — and that's exactly what the free intro call is for. You don't need to have it all figured out. Just start with a conversation.
