Therapy for Students in Edinburgh & Online
Student life looks great from the outside. It doesn't always feel that way.
New city. New people. New expectations. Everyone around you seems to be thriving — making friends effortlessly, keeping up with their workload, knowing exactly who they are and where they're going.
And yet underneath, you might be struggling in ways you haven't told anyone about. Homesick. Overwhelmed. Anxious. Lonely. Wondering if you made the right choices. Questioning whether you even belong here.
You're not failing. You're navigating one of the most significant transitions of your life — and sometimes that's really hard.
Therapy designed around student life
I know that student life comes with its own particular pressures — financial, academic, social, and personal — all hitting at once. Therapy with me is flexible, affordable, and built around what's actually going on for you.
This isn't a university counselling service with a six-week waiting list and a fixed number of sessions. It's one-to-one, ongoing support with the same therapist — someone who gets to know you properly and is consistently there.
Sessions are available online across the UK, making it easy to fit around lectures, placements, and the general unpredictability of student schedules.
What students come to therapy for
You don't need to be in crisis to reach out. Many students come to therapy simply because life feels harder than expected — and they want somewhere to make sense of it.
Some of the things I work with:
A note for international students
Moving to Edinburgh from another country brings a whole additional layer of adjustment — cultural, linguistic, social, and practical. You might be managing all of this while also keeping up appearances for family back home who sacrificed a great deal for you to be here.
That particular kind of pressure deserves its own space.
I work with international students and understand that the experience of studying abroad is about far more than academics. Whatever you're carrying, you don't have to carry it alone.
What to expect from student counselling
Step 1: The free intro call (20 mins)
Before we begin, I offer a free introductory call by phone or video. It's a chance to tell me a little about what's going on, ask any questions, and see if we feel like a good fit. No obligation, no pressure.
Step 2: Your first session (50 mins)
The first session is relaxed and conversational. We'll take time to get to know each other and talk through what's brought you here. You don't need to prepare anything — just show up as you are.
Step 3: Ongoing, flexible support
Sessions usually take place weekly, though we can discuss what works best around your lecture or placement schedules. There's no set cap on sessions — some students come for a single term, others stay longer.
Fees, locations, and practical details
Where
In person in Edinburgh and online via secure video across Scotland and the rest of the UK — ideal for students who go home in the holidays and want continuity of support.
When
I offer appointments during the week including some evening slots, designed to work around student timetables. Get in touch to discuss availability.
How much
Sessions are £65 for 50 minutes. To secure a regular weekly slot, block bookings are available — for example, 4 sessions for £260. A small number of reduced-rate spaces are available for those self-funding — please ask when you get in touch.
If a parent or guardian is funding your sessions, we can coordinate invoicing seamlessly — while keeping our therapeutic space entirely confidential for you.
You deserve support that actually fits your life
University counselling services do brilliant work — but waiting lists are long, sessions are often limited, and the support ends when term does. Private therapy gives you continuity, flexibility, and a space that's genuinely yours for as long as you need it.
Ready to take the first step?
The first step doesn't need to be perfect — it just needs to be yours.
Whether you're based in Edinburgh or anywhere across the UK, I'd love to hear from you. Get in touch for a free, no-obligation introductory call and we can take it from there.
